The Samsung 11.1.4-channel soundbar delivers immersive audio with 4K Video Pass at 120 Hz, Q-Symphony, wireless TV connectivity, and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi streaming.

23 Speakers, Four Wireless Pieces, Zero Speaker Wire

The Q990H ships as a complete 11.1.4-channel system: a 7.0.2-channel main bar with 15 drivers (including up-firing and side-firing), two 2.0.1 wireless rear speakers, and a compact wireless subwoofer with dual 8-inch opposing drivers. Everything connects wirelessly. Setup takes about 10 minutes, most of that spent deciding where to put the sub.

The main bar stretches 48.5 inches wide and sits just 2.8 inches tall, so it tucks under most 55-inch or larger TVs without blocking the IR sensor. At 7.29 kg, it’s substantial enough to stay put on a media console but comes with a wall-mount kit if you prefer that route. The rear speakers are compact enough for a bookshelf or side table, and the cube-shaped sub fits beside furniture without drawing attention.

Sound Elevation and Auto Volume: The Two Features Worth Talking About

Sound Elevation is the headline addition for 2026. It uses the up-firing drivers and Samsung’s AI processing to push dialogue upward so voices feel like they’re anchored to the screen instead of coming from below it. If your TV is wall-mounted above eye level, the difference is immediately obvious. Dialogue tracks the picture instead of lagging behind at bar height.

Auto Volume tackles a problem that’s been annoying everyone for years: volume that jumps between streaming apps, cable channels, and different types of content. The system analyzes audio levels in real time and smooths out the swings so you’re not reaching for the remote every time a commercial hits or you switch from Netflix to sports. It sounds simple, but it’s one of those things you notice every single day once you have it.

Q-Symphony 2026: Up to Five Samsung Devices Playing Together

Q-Symphony has been around for a few years, but the 2026 version is a significant upgrade. You can now pair up to five Samsung audio devices with a compatible Samsung TV, and the system analyzes room layout and device placement to optimize channel distribution across all of them. The TV speakers fire alongside the soundbar, rear speakers, and any additional Samsung speakers you add.

Wireless Dolby Atmos sends the Atmos signal from the TV to the bar over Wi-Fi, so streaming apps that output Atmos don’t need a physical HDMI connection. You still get 2 HDMI inputs for a console or Blu-ray player, plus 1 HDMI output with eARC and an optical input. The HDMI ports support 4K passthrough at 120 Hz, which matters if you game on a PS5 or Xbox Series X.

The Smart Features That Earn Their Keep

SpaceFit Sound Pro uses built-in microphones in the bar and subwoofer to map your room’s acoustics and adjust EQ and bass response automatically. Move the system to the basement rec room and it recalibrates on its own. Active Voice Amplifier Pro monitors ambient noise and content audio in real time, then pushes dialogue forward when background sound gets heavy. It’s the kind of feature that makes you wonder how you watched movies without it.

Game Mode Pro drops audio latency and auto-detects when a console powers on, so directional sound cues from the surround channels stay in sync with the action on screen. Adaptive Sound shifts the mix depending on what you’re watching. Night Mode compresses the dynamic range for late sessions so explosions don’t wake the house. Voice assistants include Alexa and Bixby built in, with Google Cast and AirPlay for streaming from any phone or tablet.

Features

🔊

11.1.4ch / 23 Speakers

23 drivers across four wireless pieces: 15 in the bar (up-firing + side-firing), 6 in the rear speakers (with up-firing), and dual 8-inch opposing woofers in the compact cube sub.

🎯

Sound Elevation

New for 2026. Lifts dialogue toward the center of the screen using up-firing drivers and AI processing. Voices track the picture, not the bar. Especially noticeable with wall-mounted TVs.

🔄

Auto Volume

Analyzes audio levels in real time and smooths out volume jumps between apps, channels, and content types. No more grabbing the remote when switching from streaming to live TV.

🎬

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

Full object-based surround from up-firing and side-firing drivers. Supports Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio, and more. Wireless Dolby Atmos from compatible Samsung TVs.

🎮

Game Mode Pro + 4K@120Hz

Auto-detects console gaming, reduces audio latency, and delivers directional sound cues. 2 HDMI inputs with 4K passthrough at 120 Hz keep your PS5 or Xbox Series X running at full spec.

📱

Q-Symphony 2026 + Streaming

Pairs up to 5 Samsung audio devices with your TV for coordinated surround. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect. Alexa and Bixby built in.

Who Is This For?

Home Theatre Builder

You want surround sound that fills the room but you don’t want to run wires or mount bookshelf speakers. The Q990H is a complete 11.1.4 system out of the box, everything wireless. Sound Elevation anchors dialogue to the screen, and Q-Symphony 2026 lets you add more Samsung speakers later to expand the soundstage. It’s a proper home theatre setup that you can install in 10 minutes.

Everyday TV Watcher

Auto Volume alone might justify the upgrade. No more volume spikes during commercials, no more turning it up for dialogue and down for action scenes. Active Voice Amplifier Pro keeps voices clear without you touching a button. SpaceFit Sound Pro calibrates itself to your room. Night Mode lets you watch late without bothering anyone. These are the features you’ll use every single day.

Console Gamer

Game Mode Pro activates automatically when your PS5 or Xbox powers on, dropping audio latency so footsteps and gunfire stay in sync with what you see. The 2 HDMI inputs support 4K at 120 Hz passthrough, so you’re not losing visual performance to get better audio. With rear speakers and up-firing drivers, positional audio puts sounds where they belong in 3D space.
